Warmest welcome to my space – a space I hope will become as meaningful to you as it is to me. My name is Milena, and I’ve lovingly crafted this space as a supportive pillar for both my journey and, hopefully, yours too. Fueled by my diverse passions, it my way to overcoming the barriers that once restrained me—barriers that, today, hold less power over me.

Each day, I find myself stepping forward with less fear and more courage, engaging with the world with less self-judgment and more self-love. It is here, in this very space, that suffering gives way to happiness, and transformation is not just a possibility but a reality.

For nearly two decades, I’ve ventured beyond the borders of Poland, dedicating ten of those years to immersing myself in Japan’s rich culture and landscapes. My journey into Japanese culture began with a transformative one-year internship through the Vulcanus in Japan Program, Edition 2009/2010, while I was pursuing my studies in England. That year marked a pivotal change in my life’s direction.

Upon completing my master’s degree in chemistry, I was drawn back to Japan, this time to pursue a doctorate in engineering and applied physics, sponsored by the MEXT excellence scholarship. During my doctoral studies, I embraced the roles of educator and explorer, teaching at universities with a focus on ‘reflective education’ and a ‘student-centered approach.’ My explorations led me into the forests and cultural niches of Japan, where I discovered not just my calling but the courage to truly be myself.

My deep-seated belief in the inherent goodness of people, my connection with nature, a solid scientific background, proficiency in Japanese, and a keen understanding of educational methodologies have all converged to enable me to develop enriching Shinrin-Yoku Guide trainings. In 2022, I further expanded my academic horizons by completing a master’s degree in psychology, focusing my research on the role of nature in emotion regulation. I am excited to announce that a scientific article derived from my master’s thesis will soon be published in English.

Currently, I am collaborating with Prof. David Sheffield from the Nature Connectedness Group at Derby University on researching the effects of psychedelics on nature connectedness. Additionally, I am working with Polish State Forests to promote Shinrin Yoku as a meaningful response to mental health challenges and the climate crisis.

To date, I have had the privilege of training over 100 Forest Bathing or Shinrin Yoku Guides. I am proud to share that my training program has recently been awarded the Quality Management System Certificate according to ISO 9001:2015 in the field of training services by the European Center for Quality and Promotion.

This journey, from the forests of Japan to the halls of academia, reflects my commitment to bridging the gap between science and the healing power of nature, fostering well-being and environmental stewardship

Inspired by Shinrin Yoku. Have courage to be free. Find your freedom with nature.
